In case of analysis support request for new services or modified services, the recommendations may include impact on the overall technology architecture and design, risks, technical feasibility, financial impact, etc.

Main Description
Based on the requests for support received, the Availability Manager must collaborate with the appropriate stream managers
to analyze and provide resolutions on technology availability issues and requests.
The Availability Manager must collaborate with the Event Manager to understand the alerts or warnings pertaining to
technology availability and recommend appropriate actions for the same. Additionally, the Availability Manager can also
analyze alert trends and recommend improvements to the Event Management process, from the technology availability
perspective.
If there are incidents impacting the service availability due to unavailability of a particular configuration item, the
Incident Manager may seek assistance from the Availability Manager for investigation and resolution of the same. The
Availability Manager should facilitate to resolve such incidents and assist to recover systems as quickly as possible. The
focus here would be resolving the incident as soon as possible, so that the system unavailability time is reduced.
The Availability Manager must also get involved with the Problem Manager in performing root cause analysis of technology
availability related problems and suggest resolutions or workarounds for the same. The root cause analysis also helps to
identify weak spots in IT Infrastructure.
In case of a change, the Availability Manager may be looped in by the Change Manager to provide approval on the change from
technology availability perspective. The Availability Manager must identify the vital business functions, assets and
critical IT components which may get impacted by the change. The impact of the change on overall technology availability
must also be assessed. The Availability Manager must analyze risks with respect to technology availability, and changes to
the overall architecture and design due to the change and provide approval accordingly.
For new services or modification to existing services based on business decisions, the Availability Manager must analyze
the impact on the existing IT services, components and the overall technology architecture and design. When the new IT
service is developed, Availability Manager must participate in early stages to ensure that the design can deliver the level
of technology availability required. The Availability Manager must also identify risks pertaining to technology
availability and analyze other parameters like technical feasibility, financial impact etc. Based on this, the Availability
Manager must provide recommendations in terms of changes to the technology design and architecture and highlight the risks
associated with the same.
